Our Inspiration

Playshop is an effort by Sue & Lisa Joy to noodle with some theories and ideas about how humans and our brains creatively work together. Playshops is a mashup of imagination games, body engaging dance and movement, mindfulness and intentional meditation and play… all meant to build our personal capacities in creative thinking.

Our inspiration to reclaim space for play comes from cross-discipline thought leaders:

Playspace, where the lively, creative process of innovating, learning, and changing invites passionate commitment and enthusiastic participation. – Pamela Meyer

Play seems to be one of the most advanced methods nature has invented to allow a complex brain to create itself. – Stuart Brown, M.D.

Flow- a state of concentration or complete absorption with the activity at hand and the situation. – Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

Time spent playing pays off in neuronal and synaptic growth; all that practice strengthens brain pathways. Beyond that, playfulness throws off a kind of charisma: adults, children, and even lab rats are drawn to spend more time with those who have had abundant practice playing. – Daniel Goldman
